Here’s the news for April’s Engineering Echo; we like to share news from within Bennett Engineering to let you know what we’re working on and the solutions we’re providing AND the things that have caught our eye during the month which we’ve saved for the monthly newsletter (Engineering Echo).

Celebrating our design to build process in action

This month Unit 5, Bennett Engineering’s industrial unit, has been very busy with a number of projects in full swing.

Two of these projects have involved the full process that we now offer:

Concept -> Detailed design -> Manufacturing pack -> Manufacture -> Build -> Commissioning.

Both pieces of bespoke machinery have solved the challenges that the product manufacturers were facing and provided them with high quality equipment for their production lines. Having full control of the process enables Bennett Engineering to provide you with the best solution for your challenge.

Machinery is a huge investment for companies, so getting it right first time is critical, and that is always our goal with every single design through to manufacture project we undertake.

If there’s a project you’ve got planned that would benefit from our expertise please don’t hesitate in getting in touch via telephone: 01332 419220 or email info@beneng.co.uk

Presenting the business in April (news for Engineering Echo)

Craig’s recently showcased the big developments that have taken place here at Bennett Engineering to a room full of East Midlands based business owners.

Here’s the key elements that Craig talked about:

  • Our core services are design, manufacture and build. We’re looking to increase the work we undertake for manufacturing and assembly / build projects.
  • Craig has been with the company for 13 years and is one of the few engineers in the world with very specific expertise for an area within the automotive sector.
  • One of the projects that we presented as a CAD 3D model looks tiny on the screen but it’s actually 50 tonne platforms with huge cement pumps in real life.
  • The business has been going 26 years and the move to Unit 5 has enabled us to complete a turnkey service for customer’s projects.

Our process is well defined and proven (and looks very good on the front of our new notebooks – drop Seleena an email if you’d like one posting out!).#

Creme eggs cracked

In 1963 Fry’s launched the Creme Egg; it was rebranded as Cadbury Creme Eggs in 1971, we all know these chocolate eggs filled with fondant are incredibly popular at Easter. Data suggests that 3.7 Cadbury Creme Eggs sold per second.

And the fastest someone has ever eaten a Creme Egg? Well that’s in 8.65 seconds!

The eggs are still produced in Cadbury’s factory in Bournville, Birmingham. These ones can’t be sold in the USA though – they’ve been banned for a while! Huge racks that can fit around 100 half-egg moulds travel along vast conveyor belts. Half of the moulds get filled with just the white fondant, while the other half gets the ‘yolk’. Eventually the two halves get fused together to create the whole egg. The egg halves are fused together when two racks, each containing around 100 half-eggs, are brought together. The racks are initially travelling next to each other on a conveyer belt, but once the egg halves are ready, the two racks get brought together in the way you’d close a book.

Interesting Creme Egg facts! How fast can you eat yours?

New Morgan model

Morgan Motor Company’s new flagship model has entered production at their historic Malvern factory.

Henry Morgan founded the business in 1910, he designed and built his a car for his own use in 1909 having developed the first independent front suspension during his time at Malvern College. The company still uses traditional techniques and they are a little unusual as they were still using wood in their construction for framing the body shell in the 21st century.

Morgan cars can be found in many areas of motorsport from club to historic races but today they are working on the Morgan Supersport. This new flagship model announced this year probably doesn’t have much wood in it (there’s not much info published on that yet!) but it does provide a dynamic performance with their unmistakable design.

The phrase we like the most:

“Every element has been carefully considered to create an engaging and unforgettable driving experience.”

It’s all about the design even when you are an iconic car manufacturer!
